Ligence was founded by a team of medical practitioners aiming to deliver artificial intelligence solutions for everyday cardiologists work. Currently, it requires a trained and experienced specialist to accurately perform the heart ultrasound examination and the procedure itself requires a lot of manual work. Ligence is developing machine learning algorithms that are capable of automatically detecting a person’s heart functional and anatomical features from ultrasound images.
Ligence team is an active member of a startup scene. In 2020, after winning national competition of innovative digital solutions, company got a place to compete in World Summit Awards (WSA). There they won the grand prize of “European Youth Award“ that acknowledges young innovators. Since then startup has also demonstrate their skill in neural network development during international “Pioneer“ competition and “Innostars Awards“ hosted by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology. They have also participated in “Pace Global Partners“ acceleration programme in Toronto last summer.
Last year when pandemic started, Ligence has also started adapting the technology they have in development to provide solutions for fighting coronavirus pandemic consequences.
Since heart ultrasounds might take up to 90 minutes, screening coronavirus infected patients cause high risk for doctors to get infected as well. Ligence has received a funding grant as part of ”Inostartas” programme for development of innovative tool prototype for automated echocardiography analysis that will enable physicians to accurately assess heart function during transthoracic echocardiography examination. This was further funded by Lithuanian Business Support Agency (LVPA) for development of CardioEchoAI – the tool for 2D transthoracic echocardiography automation as a part of ”Ekpserimentas” business tool programme that promotes development and market entry of innovative products.
We wish Ligence team all the best in their endeavour!
