Launching the Diverse Gene Watch Project: Early Forecasting and Monitoring System for Genetic Biodiversity Loss in Keystone Forest Tree Species
We are pleased to announce the successful launch of the Diverse Gene Watch Project, in which LithuaniaBIO is a proud partner, earlier this week in Kaunas, Lithuania.
This collaborative initiative brings together six research institutions, five sectoral agencies, and fifteen associated organizations working to preserve forest genetic diversity across the Baltic Sea Region.
Project goal: To establish and implement a robust transnational genetic monitoring system for four keystone forest tree species. This system will enable the early detection of biodiversity loss and strengthen forest resilience in the face of the ongoing climate crisis.
The Diverse Gene Watch Project is co-funded by the European Union under Interreg Baltic Sea Region.
