WOMEN IN BIOTECH: GROW A STARTUP
On October 20, 16:00 EEST, the last virtual event of the cycle of WOMEN IN BIOTECH platform will take place. The keynote speaker at the live event – Dr. Kiana Aran. Researcher with platform participants will share her experiences in creating and developing start-ups, tales about their discoveries in the life sciences sector and their commercialization.
Dr. Aran is one of the founders of “Nanosens Innovations” and “Cardea Bio”. Technological startup “Nanosens Innovations” in 2019 became a fully integrated part of “Cardea Bio”. Under the leadership of these companies, Dr. Aran has developed a new digital biosensor CRISPR-Chip based on graphene, which is able to identify genetic mutations in just a few minutes.Over the last few years, CRISPR has revolutionized the life sciences. Using the present invention, DNA alterations can be made in living organisms, which makes it possible to treat inherited diseases. The researcher earned a doctorate in biomedical engineering from Rutgers University and later did postdoctoral fellowships at the University of California, Berkeley and the Buck Institute.
