Lithuanian biotechnology association is happy to announce new academic member – Klaipėda University. Klaipėda University is a multidisciplinary educational institution, a national and Baltic Region leader in the field of marine sciences and studies integrated into international academic networks. The University has about 4,000 students and yearly implements over 60 international and national scientific projects, cooperates with academic and research partners in the countries of Europe and the world, and participates in the activities of international funds, programmes, and networks. Unique location of the university enables to develop specific research programs, that are not found in other Lithuanian universities, such as marine biotechnology.
Klaipėda University recently announced it’s participation in the project „EU-CONEXUS“. „European University for Smart Urban Coastal Sustainability’ is formed of 6 European universities – La Rochelle Université, Agricultural University of Athens, La Universidad Católica de Valencia “San Vicente Mártir”, University of Zadar, Klaipeda University and Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest. All these universities share the geographical characteristic of being located at coastal areas or working on coastal issues and paying particular attention to the sustainability of the coastal area, digitization and blue growth. The main goal of the EU-CONEXUS consortium is to implement a brand new idea of European University. It will provide the tools and instruments to promote the comprehensiveness and quality of education, research and innovation in this area at a European and international level. Its competitive advantage will be based on the decade‐long expertise of the partner universities as well as the dominant position of European industries in the area of “Blue Economy”.
LBTA and Klaipėda University will collaborate in creation of study programs, international projects and development of bioeconomy in Lithuania.
